Orlando Pirates collected their three points at home following their encounter against TS Galaxy. Going to this match Pirates didn’t have much luck on their side, as they suffered back-to-back draws against Baroka FC and AmaZulu FC. This was disappointing for the technical team, as they felt that their charges deserved to walk away with maximum points on both matches. Now, the Pirates have finally gone back to winning ways as they defeated Galaxy by 2-0 at Orlando Stadium yesterday (Saturday).
The Sea Robbers co-coach Fadlu Davids have shown gratitude towards his players after showing their resilience towards the Rockets and that made them walk away with a victory. The goals from Bandile Shandu and Collins Makgaka made sure that Pirates wins convincingly. Davids felt that both teams were on top of their game, however, Pirates were clinical in front of goals, hence they netted two goals. “Good start, in relation to both teams, the difference was we could score, get that early goal. Yes, they are a team that is very direct, one of the few teams playing two strikers,” said Davids speaking to SuperSport TV after the game at Orlando Stadium.
Davids stated that if Pirates remained on the 1-0 lead that could have led to something else. However, they focused on getting a healthy lead of two goals, which they knew will challenge Galaxy. As soon as they got that they started controlling the game. “It was very important that we score the second goal, very important that we don’t get sucked into their style of play, of transition, transition. The second-half was about slowing the game down, putting the foot on the ball, dominating possession and the second goal came,” said Davids speaking to SuperSport TV.
