Hotto Fires the Pirates to Victory in the DStv Premiership Update.

At the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday, Orlando Pirates defeated Royal AM 1-0 thanks to a goal from Deon Hotto.

Both teams tried to get an early advantage as the game got off to a quick start. However, while there was a lot of activity in the center of the field, passes fell apart in the last third.

Richard Ofori successfully retrieved Samuel Manganyi's goal-bound looping header in the 19th minute.

Bienvenu In the 28th minute, Eva Nga attempted to turn and shoot, but the Cameroonian's attempt was just wide.

However, Pirates quickly took the lead in the 34th minute when Deon Hotto finished well after Thabiso Monyane's square ball had set him up.

Hotto's goal separated the two teams at halftime, despite Sedwyn George's wide and high attempt from a set piece in the 38th minute.

Kabelo Dlamini had a chance to make it two in the 51st minute but was unable to take advantage of a poor clearance by Xolani Ngcobo, shooting wide of the goal. Tebogo Potsane’s attempt in the 55th minute was straight at Ofori.

In the 59th minute, substitute Vincent Pule nearly scored, but Ngcobo was able to deflect Pule's shot over the crossbar.

Abongile The hosts made a strong effort to equalize in the 83rd minute, but Tom wasn't interested in their dreams for a penalty.

Mokete Mogaila had a fantastic opportunity to score for Royal AM in the 89th minute, but his attempt was stopped by some excellent last-second defence.

Shadrack Kobedi was given a second yellow card in stoppage time, reducing Royal AM to ten men, but Pirates were able to hang on for the victory that lifts them up to fourth in the standings.

Meanwhile, it was a second straight defeat for Royal AM, who remain on six points, currently in the sixth spot.
