Orlando Pirates Unveils Their 2022/23 Kit With The Jersey

Orlando Pirates have officially launched their 2022/23 adidas jersey which retails for a whooping R1099. Needless to say, the high prices has led to some wagging tongues and raised eyebrows. Pirates celebrates 85 years today and the jersey is meant to pay homage to the Soweto giants. The team shared the jersey in both its colors, Black and White as well as that they have it available in male, female and junior sizes.

According to the team, "The range consists of two new designs: home jersey (charcoal) and an away jersey (grey and white). The home charcoal jersey features silver accents and logos, alongside red trim on the collar and cuffs. A subtle striping pattern covers the front and sleeves." In a tweet, the official Orlando Pirates account shared that the jersey was finally ready for purchase and nationwide delivery was available. Bob Maphosa who is the current Football Sports Marketing and PR manager at ADIDAS SA articulated that the designers were aiming to guarantee that the players could feel cool on the field while playing and their new innovation offered satisfactory sweat distribution and prioritized airflow.

Additionally, Pirates stated, "the new jersey is made with 100% recycled materials and features the latest in adidas’ temperature regulation innovation, AERO.RDY — KEEP COOL, which is designed to keep players feeling cool, dry, and confident during play by optimizing sweat distribution and maximizing airflow."

Many were quick to jump into the team's comments to share congratulatory messages, excitement about the upcoming season and questions about the kits questionable price range. One supporter of the team suggested, "This is very nice only if it can translate to winning trophies."

Another supporter commended the design and stated, "Never disappoint. A very beautiful, slick and elegant jersey. M gunning for this one."

Another devoted fan added, 'Beautiful jersey worth the price, getting mine this weekend"
