FIFA has officially dismissed a complaint for a rematch
The 2022 FIFA world Cup qualifiers are doing the most, the matches are being more and more dramatic than ever, not just in Africa alone but there are big teams struggling to claim their spots and they will now be hoping to qualify via the play-offs. Besides those failing to claim automatic qualification in Uerope, in Africa there is more drama.
A very disappointing between to watch match between Ghana and South Africa that ended with a single goal of a very suspicious penalty against Bafana Bafana. An investigation was launched by FIFA since SAFA sent their complaint as they feel that the game was manipulated. Not just that game alone but the match between Democratic of Congo and Benin was also investigated as the DRC won by 2-0 and Benin sent a complaint too.
The Benin side were not happy with DRC making 4 substitutions on that day. They believe that the DRC team made their four substitutions in four intervals when the rules only allow them to make their 4 substitutions in three intervals. Unfortunately FIFA thrown that complaint out the window, as they replied with a public announcement and a letter that the protest has been dismissed, it took a very short period of time for the Federation to reply and make judgement. FIFA confirmed that the complaint is dismissed therefore DR Congo are duly qualified for the play-off round.
Football supporters in South Africa will be praying for a different outcome from their appeal next week, many are hoping for a replay and they believe that if they are to fail to qualify for the next round let it happen fair and square. On the other side the Ghananains. It won’t be a first time South Africa being involved with a replay, the decision was against them when Senegal applied for a rematch as they felt the match was manipulated after SA won. A replay was a disappointing loss to Bafana Bafana as they were crushed by the Senegalese with two goals to nil.
