Kaizer Chiefs talented goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune's contract is set to expire in June and there hasn't been any talks about his contract extension. The club only held salary negotiations and both parties failed to reach an agreement.
Khune is currently the second highest paid player in the club. He earns R480 000 per month. The highest paid player is Khama Billiat, who earns R833,333 per month. Most clubs around the world, including South Africa have lost revenue due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
Khune is currently failing to break into the matchday squad and every time he plays, he makes huge errors that cost the team. He made two blunders against Black Leopards and SuperSport United and since then, the coach Gavin Hunt has decided that he has had enough of him.
The club has decided that he can't continue to earn a big salary while he is not delivering anything to the club.
After the failed salary negotiations, the chairman Kaizer Motaung said that no one is bigger than the club no matter how good they think they are. This is a stern warning from the chairman and he could let Khune go. The last time Motaung made this comments, Hendrick Ekstein, George Lebese, Mandla Masango and George Maluleka left the club.
