Ex-Sundowns Star Scored Against Baroka To See Them Relegated.
Baroka FC had hopes of avoiding automatic relegation from the DStv Premiership as they came face to face with Maritzburg United (team of choice) away from home in what was their final match for the current season.
Maritzburg United with their home ground also didn't want to suffer a defeat at home, and former Mamelodi Sundowns player Clayton Daniels ensured that Maritzburg United walked away with all three points.
Baroka FC held the team of choice to a goalless draw in the first half of the match, but the second half worked in favour of Maritzburg as Clayton Daniels scored the only goal of the match in the 55th minute for the 1-0 win.
Maritzburg United's three points landed them the 12th place spot but Baroka's defeat meant that they are relegated from the top flight to the GladAfrica Championship.
Baroka FC ended the season in the 16th place spot with 25 points whilst Moroka Swallows will have to hope they win the relegation/promotion playoffs after their 2-2 draw against Kaizer Chiefs in their final match of the season in the top flight.
Moroka Swallows will now play against Cape Town All Stars and University of Pretoria FC in the playoffs.
