Pitso Mosimane has been blamed for Zamalek's 5-3 loss against Al Ahly after their head coach failed to appear for his post-match news conference. Zamalek was allegedly fined after Patrice Carteron refused to appear at the news conference following the White Knights' loss in the Cairo derby last Friday.
However, Amr Farouk Abul-Ezz, the club's managing director, has stated that the club only decided to withdraw their availability once it seemed that Mosimane would not be attending either. "According to the regulations, the press conference begins 10 minutes after the match, in the presence of the away team's coach," he said on Al-Koora Hayat's Every Day on Tuesday.
"We waited for 28 minutes, and the press conference did not begin because Pitso Mosimane did not arrive; we are Zamalek, we are not a little club, and we cannot wait for anyone." We arrived in the press conference hall, but neither the opposition team's coach nor the match observer was present, and there are witnesses to the occurrence, so we withdrew from the conference."
