Chiefs coach Baxter has sent a strong to everyone that criticised Parker in the past

Kaizer Chiefs veteran attacker Bernard Parker was a hero against the 2-1 victory over SuperSport United this past weekend. That’s when the Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter decided to share a message to everyone that has been criticising Parker over the past couple of games at Naturena. As Parker’s brace led to Amakhosi's crucial win on Sunday and that has silenced his doubters. After he was trusted with an armband, Chiefs have seen a different side of Parker as he wants to win games and reclaim all the glory at Naturena.

The 35-year-old attacker has shown that his experience will come in handy at Chiefs. Even though he came under scrutiny for not scoring goals in the past and pulling of scrappy performances that put Chief on the back foot. However, Parker has proved that no one can shut off his services at Amakhosi as he’s planning to be part of the club’s structure until he retires. Now, the fans will have to rethink their criticism towards the former Bafana Bafana star and give him the benefit of the doubt. Baxter has come into Parker’s defense as he felt that fans have been wrong in the past about him in terms of his abilities on the field.

When Chiefs won against the Tshwane giants, Baxter felt that the work of his team is paying off, especially looking at Parker’s performance. Also, Baxter stated that the fans have been wrong about several players such as Siphiwe Tshabalala and even Reneilwe Letsholonyane. As they felt that they didn’t have what it takes to reach higher levels of their football careers. “When you’ve worked as long and as hard as Bernard has, it’s very easy for people to say you’re over the hill and you’re not up to it. They’ve been saying that for a long time. They’ve said that about Shabba [Siphiwe Tshabalala] seven years before he retired, they said it about Yeye [Reneilwe Letsholonyane], they’ve said that about a lot of players,” said Baxter talking to the media.

Furthermore, the Englishman stated that they have to take all the criticism that comes from the fans, as it’s part of their journey as professionals in the sports sphere. All they need to do is believe in their abilities to excel under any pressure. “So that’s the one thing, and we’ve got to live with that as players and coaches because that is the society and world we’re living in at the moment,” said Baxter talking to the media.
