Premier Soccer League (PSL), club Kaizer Chiefs is preparing for a bruising legal battle with the league to defend their no-show issue following Covid-19 outbreak last month. The club is roping in astute legal eagle Norman Arendse SC, as part of their defence team.
Arendse is a veteran and highly respected legal mind the world of support. Recently, he was in charge of Sekhukhune United FC, legal team in a case against the PSL, Polokwane City and Royal AM.
Kaizer Chiefs celebrated their 52nd anniversary this week and the league is headed for a legal showdown following Chiefs no-show for their two fixtures against Cape Town City and Golden Arrows in December after their headquarters were ravaged by Covid-19, affecting 36 staff members.
In December Chiefs asked the PSL to postpone their remaining matches for the month. But, their request was declined.
PSL announced its decision after Kaizer Chiefs had already missed their matches.
Last week, Kaizer Chiefs chairperson Kaizer Motaung said that the club was dumbfounded by the PSL's stance. Saying this has brought a lot of attention to the running of the league and they have to ensure that the organization good image is not tarnished.
