On Friday morning, Ralf Rangnick shrugged off a news about Erling Haaland and Manchester United. Rangnick was named interim manager of United on Monday, and he gave his first news conference ahead of the weekend. Rangnick's first game in command will be against Crystal Palace, and he visited Old Trafford on Thursday night as United defeated Arsenal 3-2 with Michael Carrick on the touchline - it was revealed that Carrick will quit the club after the game.
Rangnick was questioned by the media regarding Haaland and a possible move to United. Rangnick worked with Haaland at RB Salzburg, and speculations have surfaced that he may get a bonus at United for bringing him in. Rangnick, though, shrugged off the topic with an appealing reaction. "£10 million for Erling Haaland, £10 million for Kylian Mbappe, £10 million for Robert Lewandowski, and £10 million for Joshua Kimmich," Rangnick joked at his news conference.
"Obviously, this is ridiculous. My contract does not contain such a provision. It's pointless to make predictions about new players. Erling Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world. Because I was among the guys at RB Salzburg at the time, I know the most about it. "I was also involved in the transfer of [Haaland's] from Molde to Salzburg, so I know what sort of player he is, but the rest of the world has already realized how amazing he is. Only a few individuals believed in it two years ago. "I'm more than content. We don't need to talk about any of the other offensive players since we have so many great players in the offensive area."
With Rangnick having worked with Haaland before, it might be easy for him to convince Haaland to join the Red Devils. Only time will tell on when that will happen.
