In the last year's the future of the two top soccer teams was hanging in the balance after the opposition Governance Minister Pravin Gordhan to pull the plug on the almost R100 million sponsorship of the PSL clubs.
Msunduzi Municipality and Nelson Mandela Bay municipality both signed deals worth a combined R72 million with the two teams that use their facilities and stay on their respective cuties.
Chippa United was lured to the Eastern Cape after it complained that it was not getting support from the Cape Town metro. Both the two municipalities believe their cash injection into the two teams was worth every cent.
"Not only has the municipality invested so much in soccer, we have also more than doubled our investment from council finding in terms of infrastructure", said spokesperson for Msunduzi Municipality, Thobeka Mafumbatha.

Royal AM- R5.2 Million
Golden Arrows- R5.2 Million
2. Msunduzi Municipality
Maritzburg United- R9 Million.
3. Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality
Chippa United-R6 Million
The former minister of finance also wants municipalities to generate more revenue to be able to sustain themselves.
