SAFA to withdraw its bid for the Fifa Club World Cup?

It has reportedly said that the South African Football Association known as SAFA has decided to withdraw its bid to host the Fifa Club World Cup herr in South Africa due to the rising of covid-19 infections.

With the recent update that vaccinated fans will be allowed to attend matches, starting with the World Cup Qualifier match between Bafana Bafana and Ethiopia on Tuesday, 12 October 2021 at the FNB stadium in Johannesburg.

The country has yet to hit its 70% threshold target of vaccination and SAFA says it is not in a good form so it cannot go ahead with the plans of hosting the Fifa Club World Cup.

SAFA says it will not be pursuing the matter of hosting this event here in South Africa. For South Africa to host the event, the nation needs to reach 70% vaccination threshold.

At the current rate of vaccination, the nation would not meet the target of 70% in time for the tournament which starts on the 9th of December 2021.
