Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Aubrey Tlali Mathibe has been invited back into the Amakhosi overlay. He returns to the Club in his new role as goalie mentor, where he will work with both the junior and senior groups.
Mathibe will mostly oversee the hold group as a goalie coach, but he will also play an important role in the senior group, collaborating closely with Lee Baxter and overseeing prominent international goalkeepers like as Itumeleng Khune, Bruce Bvuma, Brandon Petersen, and Daniel Akpeyi. He'll also collaborate with the Scouting office.
Following his retirement from professional football in 2016, the former goalkeeper has worked with a variety of teams in lesser leagues, including the Black Leopards, who were promoted to the DStv Premiership that year. He joined Maccabi, who had advanced to the GladAfrica Championship from the ABC Motsepe League. He then transferred to Swallows because Maccabi sold their status at the time.
Mathibe, who was born in Kroonstad, joined Kaizer Chiefs at the age of 19 in 1999 and left in 2006. He'll reunite with former teammates Kaizer Motaung Jr, who is now the Sporting Director, mentor Arthur Zwane, Gerald Sibeko, who is the group supervisor, and goalie Itumeleng Khune.
