I Got The Name (Mahoota) When I Was Young, While I Was Still At The Farms In Praktiseer - Mashego

There are not very many players who have accomplished what the Mpumalanga-conceived star has accomplished in his football profession.

In 2012/13 Season , Mashego left with the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot Award following his 13 objectives in the Absa Premiership.

The striker has won five alliance titles, two with Mamelodi Sundowns, one with Orlando Pirates and another two with SuperSport United, while he has additionally won the Telkom Knockout, MTN8 and CAF Champions League.

Experiencing childhood in Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga, Mashego was known for his dance moves for famous Kwaito bunch Trompies tunes.

"I got the name when I was young fellow, while I was still at the homesteads in Praktiseer," Mashego tells KickOff.com.

"We used to like Trompies a ton, so we used to move to their melodies. There was this famous melody in it they would frequently yell 'Hello Mahoota!' So every time when we were together we would move to that tune. Also, everybody began calling me 'Hello Mahoota!' cause I was doing some amusing dance. So it just stuck then after that I became Mahoota.

"At the point when I came here in Johannesburg the name turned into something public. It just developed into me. Clear around then we used to wear spotis [bucket hats], etc, and All Star. In the event that you possessed a couple of All Star and a decent shirt you were an ideal pantsula. Clearly when I began playing expertly individuals began placing their own translation and idea into their name and said 'Yho this kid is a chime [car hooter].' So you simply develop to adore the moniker."
