Since arriving in Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in Winter, Bruno Fernandes has established himself as arguably the fans favorite both on and off the pitch. His on-field exploit is perhaps the most significant as he has brought the cutting edge his new team has many a time lack against their opponents.
Not all stories have a happy ending, this is threatening to be the case for Manchester United supporters — at least, for the now — as the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic has agonizingly brought the fairytale to a seemingly sharp ending.
The 25-year-old has however kept himself close to the fans hearts by taking part in different interviews and making some 'very nice' comments about his teammates and Manchester United legends. This has further strengthen fans position and perception of their midfield maestro who they have tipped to be a future captain of the club.
An ambivalent Fernandes cleverly settled with a midfield incorporating both United legends. Replying a Q&A Manchester United website, he said: "This is a difficult one, eh? I think the most difficult [question] yet, so I don't know".
"If I can have both, [it's] better! I need the guy behind me kicking everyone and recovering balls, like Roy Keane does, and have the quality to give the balls to the guys up front.
"If you look at Roy Keane, he's the kind of player all teams need. Teams play in different ways, but all the teams can have him. "Doesn't matter if you play in possession [or] on the counter, you need a guy like this normally. I think Roy Keane is an excellent player and he can give me a lot of cover in the back. To play side-to-side with Scholes would be fantastic. "If I can play with both, I play with Roy Keane in the back behind me and Scholes. Because me and Scholes can both go in the area, scoring. We want to score, we want to be in the area, no? And maybe we will need Roy Keane at our backs."
This has got some United fans wishing they could flick a magic wand and roll back the years, just to see how it would have played out.
What do you think about this midfield trio? Let the world know, in the comment.
