After the team's fantastic display during the Cosafa Cup build-up to their 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers, TS Galaxy midfielder Ethan Brooks has been given the perfect opportunity to show that he is capable of commanding a position in the Bafana Bafana set-up.
Brooks' ambition of playing in the Premier League came true three years ago when he least expected it.
The 20-year-old former Parktown Boys' High student earned his Bafana debut a month ago in a 3-2 international friendly win over Uganda.
Brooks remarked, "I am incredibly thrilled to be part of Bafana's 23-man final squad that will compete in the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar."
“Bafana Bafana hasn't qualified for the World Cup since 2002, so going into these two matches with a good mindset will be crucial. Against these two teams [Ghana and Zimbabwe], we should get off to a solid start.
“I believe the players who recently won the Cosafa Cup will aid us in the qualifiers.”
Hugo Broos' lineup includes players from the Bafana development team that won the Cosafa Cup in Gqeberha, the team that beat Uganda in a friendly at FNB Stadium in May, and the Under-24 team that competed in the Tokyo Olympics.
