Pirates player ratings vs Maritzburg || Lorch back with Bangs & Dlamini sparkles

Player ratings for the Orlando Pirates vs. Maritzburg United: Lorch is back to his best, and Dlamini shines.

The victory keeps the Sea Robbers in contention for a second-place finish and qualification for the Caf Champions League next season.

In Orlando Pirates' 4-1 win over Maritzburg United at Orlando Stadium, Thembinkosi Lorch showed flashes of his greatest form.

Richard Ofori – 6 GOALKEEPER

For the majority of the evening, the Ghana goalkeeper had nothing to do against, as his previous club failed to threaten in attack.

Bandile Shandu - 6 RIGHT-BACK

The ex-Maritzburg player was active on the right side, always eager to contribute, but he was unable to make any significant contributions.

Happy Jele - 5 CENTRE-BACK

In the first half, he displayed some fine, disciplined defending and was having a wonderful game until he was caught ball-watching for Marirzburg's goal.

In the first 20 minutes, he wasn't quite at his best, but as the game progressed, he became more composed.

LEFT-BACK PICTURE: Innocent Maela - 5

Maela may have done more to prevent the visitors from scoring after allowing Theron to cross following a bad defensive header.

RIGHT-WING: Thembinkosi Lorch - 8 RIGHT-WING:

In the opening 21 minutes, he missed an early chance, hit the post, and then scored.

Lorch is still striving for his best form after a long-term injury, and you could feel his confidence and rhythm returning.

Dlamini's late back-heel assist reflected his developing confidence.

It was a memorable night with three assists and one goal.

Ben Motshwari – 6 CENTRE-MIDDLE

Gave up a couple of fouls, but did a good job of doing the dirty work to keep the Bucs in the game.

Goodman Mosele (CENTRE-MIDDLE) – 7

On the ball, he displayed his typical wit and ingenuity, and he was the oil in the Bucs motor, connecting the team through the middle of the field.

This season, supporters have been critical of Dlamini. But this was one of his finest outings, as he constantly found pockets of space to receive possession and cleverly used the ball to create chances for his teammates, as well as having a couple of shoots himself before putting the game away with a resounding finish.

STRIKER: Kwame Peprah - 6 backpagepix

The Ghana striker had struggled to make an impact in the first half until scoring right before the break.

LEFT-WING: Deon Hotto – 7 backpagepix

He didn't have a wonderful first half, but as Maritzburg faded, the Namibian grew in confidence and scored a superb goal on the turn, as well as providing an assist.

SUBSTITUTE: Fortune Makaringe – 6 Backpagepix

Against his old side, he was lively, but he didn't have much of an impact.

SUBSTITUTE: Bongani Sam - 5 Backpagepix

Despite having 20 minutes, there was little participation.

Tshegofatso Mabasa – 6 SUBSTITUTE: Backpagepix

After a fantastic touch to control Mosele's through-ball, he should have scored, but lacked poise when it mattered.

Wayde Jooste - 5 SUBSTITUTE

In a 10-minute cameo, he didn't do anything.

Linda Mntambo - 5 SUBSTITUTE

I came on with Jooste and did nothing.
