Dolly's Chiefs season over, doubt for Bafana?

After being ruled out with injury ahead of the club's 1-0 win against Sekhukhune United on Saturday, Kaizer Chiefs star Keagan Dolly is poised to miss the Amakhosi's must-win season finale against Swallows FC next weekend.

Since joining Naturena from Montpellier, the 29-year-old has been one of the club's standout performers, contributing an astounding eight goals and five assists across all competitions.

However, he will have to sit out as the Soweto giants attempt to qualify for the CAF Champions League later this week after the club announced that his season had been cut short due to an unexplained injury.

"Keagan Dolly has joined the injury list and will only be able to return to the field of play in the next season," the club said in a statement on Saturday.

Dolly's absence is a setback not just to Chiefs, but also to the South African national team, which is scheduled to begin qualifying for the 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations later this month and in June.

While the official dates for the qualifications have yet to be announced, it is believed that the first round of matches will begin on May 30, putting the former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder in a race against time to be fit for national team action.
