Pirates Keeps CAFCL Hopes Alive With 4-1 Win.
Their latest match was against Maritzburg United at home which ended in a 4-1 victory in favour of the hosts. Pirates started the match in the 7th place spot, but their three points gathered from the match gave them a boost to the 6th place spot on the log.
Orlando Pirates is now on 43 points, and with two matches left to play, the club could land the second place spot for CAF Champions League qualification should they win their last two matches, but they must also hope that Royal AM doesn't win, or win big in their final match of the season, as Royal AM could land the second place spot with a greater goal difference as they are currently on 46 points.
Orlando Pirates must just keep on doing what they did against Maritzburg United and they might just join Sundowns in next season's champions league. Pirates won against Maritzburg United with goals from Thembinkosi Lorch, Kwame Peprah, Deon Hotto and Kabelo Dlamini.
Friday Samu scored a consolation goal for the team of choice as he eased the embarrassment on what was their final match of the season. Orlando Pirates opened the scoring in the early 21st minute as Lorch scored for the 1-0 lead.
Kwame Peprah scored in the 42nd minute to extend the lead to 2-0 just before the half-time break. In the second half of the match Deon Hotto scored in the 60th minute for the 3-0 lead and Friday Samu made it 3-1 when he scored in the 63rd minute.
Kabelo Dlamini scored in the 69th minute for Pirates to walk away with the big 4-1 win as they're keeping their CAF Champions League hopes alive. Orlando Pirates has been in the CAF Confederations Cup for the past few seasons, and champions league football would be a good change for the club who came very close to winning the CAF Confederations Cup as they went down after penalties.
