Mamelodi Sundowns are the Nedbank Cup champions 2022 after beating Marumo Gallants at Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Rustenburg.Marumo Gallants had a perfect game plan to press Mamelodi Sundowns not to allow them to play.Sundowns were unable to play their normal style ,building from the back.High pressing was the name of the game for Marumo Gallants.
Lack of communication between the defender and Marumo Gallants goalkeeper Washington Arubi gave Mamelodi Sundowns a lead going into the half time break ,goal scored by Peter Shalulile.In the second half Marumo Gallants Coach Dan Malesela brought Dion who gave the Limpopo side the equalizer.The match went to extra time ,sadly in the 119 minutes Thapelo Morena who came from the bench scored the winning goal for Sundowns.
Marumo Gallants finished the match with ten man after Ndlondlo got the red card in the extra time.The defending champions will again play in the CAF Confederations Cup next season as Mamelodi Sundowns have qualified for the CAF Champions League.
