After the long anticipated club football resumed last weekend, football fans living in any part of the world were fully entertained with lots of goals and skillful displays. It was indeed worth the wait and hype as English Premier, DSTV Premiership, German Bundesliga, French Ligue 1 and other giant leagues were on fire.
In this article, I'm going to give a full details and analysis on how the Matchday 1 fixtures went in our league, PSL. The 2022/2023 league was kicked off by the reigning champions, Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City FC in a thrilling and competitive way.
Here are the results of some important matches and full analysis:
Cape Town City FC 0-2 Mamelodi Sundowns: The match was so tight during the first half but Sundowns came into the second as the giant and dominated. They scored an early two goals in the second half to get their first 3 point of the season.
Orlando Pirates 1-0 Swallows FC: The Buccaneers played an absolute good football but was unlucky enough to score plenty goals. They were fortunate to end the match with 1 goal to nil. Pirates are looking competitive this season and could rival the title favourites, Mamelodi this time around.
Royal AM 1-0 Kaizer Chiefs: This match was the mind blowing amongst all. Kiazer Chiefs new coach, Arthur Zwane was so unfortunate to start his coaching chapter in the club with a 1-0 deficit again Shauwn Mkhize's Royal AM.
However, the team showed quality as they fought to the final whistle. We witnessed Chiefs playing free flowing attacking for the first time since the disastrous last season. They created some many good chances but lack of quality goal scorer cost them a point.
In my opinion, I believe that this season will be more competitive than the previous one because many teams are ready to battle for the crown.
