Genk played against Mechelen in the Belgian Cup quarter-finals and won the match 4-1 in the end.
Genk played their latest fixture in the Belgian Cup against Mechelen at home, and managed to win the match 4-1 at full-time. Genk and Mechelen played their quarter finals fixture in the competition, and Genk who had the home ground advantage managed to score four incredible goals whilst only conceding once in the match. Genk's win has managed to get them to the semi-finals of the Belgian Cup which is an incredible achievement by Genk.
Genk opened the scoring in the first half of the match when Kristian Thorstvedt scored the opening goal of the match in the 2nd minute to lead at 1-0. Daniel Munoz managed to extend the lead to 2-0 when he found the back of the net 8 minutes later in the 10th minute. Kristian Thorstvedt managed to complete his brace of goals in the 64th minute of the match when he scored his second goal to lead at 3-0. Kerim Mrabti scored for Mechelen in the 82nd minute of the match to make it 3-1. Theo Bongonda scored in the 85th minute as Genk lead the match at 4-1. Genk managed to win the match 4-1 in the end as they reached the Semi-finals in the Belgian Cup.
