Kaizer Chiefs switch their interest to former Orlando Pirates midfielder after losing out on Thabo Cele

It seems Kaizer Chiefs are still in the process of plotting for more transfer moves in the January transfer window, in efforts to try and complete the final piece of the jig saw they are still trying to put on together.

One department that is of attention to Amakhosi is the midfield that still lacks depth. Having been looking like being a done deal that they would sign Bafana midfielder Thabo Cele, they once again failed to secure a deal for the player they had been interested in.

Now if reports are anything to go by, Chiefs are currently looking to sign a former Orlando Pirates midfielder in the form of Yusuf Maart who has been raising up his hand for newly promoted side Sekhukhune United.

Maart was one of the highly rated players on the Buccaneers reserve side but game time prompted him to end up cutting ties with the Ghost. A source close to the situation has confirmed that the midfielder has been notified about the interest from the Glamour Boys.

"Maart has already been told that Chiefs are interested in signing him but he could not believe it when he was told. He started to belive it when someone from Chiefs approached him and asked him if he would like to play for Chiefs. Although he still has a running contract, it is a possibility that he will be leaving his club to join Chiefs in the near future, " explained the source.

The 26 years old midfielder is said to be very keen on joining Chiefs and has also captured the attention of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos through his performances this season at the Limpopo top flight debutants. Whether he will end up moving to in the near future remains to be seen.
