Municipalities sponsor PSL clubs annually

1. eThekwini Municipality:

2. Royal AM - R5.2 million

3. Golden Arrows - R5.2 million

4. AmaZulu - R3.7 million

Msunduzi Municipality

1. Maritzburg United - R9 million

Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality:

1. Chippa United - R6 million

I believe its a good investment, for example look at Chippa, the other 15 teams will have to go and play in the eastern cape, they will have to sleep 2 or 3 days in hotels benefits which employs locals. They will have to eat agriculture sector benefits with SSME

Some teams use sport facilities, the teams need to move from point A to B (transport sector) remember a team travels will almost +- 40 people. I still maintain that municipalities have no business sponsoring professional sports teams, these teams are perfectly capable of approaching corporate companies for sponsorship. The teams don't even attract large crowds to the stadiums unless they are playing Pirates, Chiefs or Sundowns so the idea that they attract tourists to their respective cities is obsolete

Imagine if there was no lockdown and stadium restrictions. Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns would make 4 trips each to KZN in 1 season excluding cup competitions. Massive incentive for tourism. Royal AM and Arrows gets a bigger slice than AmaZulu. These two have some sort of association with the ruling party remember, tenders
