Golden Arrows prepare for Kaizer Chiefs, Safa to send referees amid fixture uncertainty

Another no-show at Princess Magogo Stadium, where Amakhosi are set to face Abafana Bes'thende, could be on the cards.

Golden Arrows have declared that they expect a "difficult game" against Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday, with Safa appointing referees.

This match is clouded by uncertainty following the Chiefs' request last week to have five of their games postponed after their camp was infected with the coronavirus.

The infection was claimed to have infected at least 31 people, leaving the Soweto giants unable to assemble a team.

This resulted in them failing to show up for last weekend's scheduled match versus Cape Town City, who arrived at FNB Stadium with match officials prepared to manage the game.

It is unclear whether the Chiefs will go to Durban, but club spokesperson Vina Maphosa told GOAL that an information would be sent "as soon as it is ready."

As they prepare for Wednesday's match, Arrows coach Lehlohonolo Seema says they are seeing nothing "abnormal" as they prepare for the Soweto giants.

"Right now, we're getting ready for the Chiefs on Wednesday." We're not worried about whether or not they'll show up. Because they're ahead of us on the log, we're gearing ourselves for a tough game. We haven't encountered anything unusual," Seema told Sowetan Live.

Safa has stated that they have not heard from the PSL, despite Abdul Ebrahim, the head of referees for the local football mother body, indicating that they will be sending their referees to Princess Magogo on Wednesday.

"Unless the league instructs us differently, I don't see any reason why we shouldn't send referees to Durban." We haven't heard anything from the league yet, so we'll be sending match officials there," Ebrahim explained.

This challenging task began at a time when the Chiefs had regained their form and had risen to second place in the PSL standings, but they were relegated to fourth place after a weekend of inactivity.
