On 14 November 2021, Thokozile Makhowane, 34, left home with her boyfriend and never returned.
An abduction case was opened at the Besters police station after the incident was reported to the authorities.
The 44-year-old man she was last seen with was apprehended by detectives, but the court released him due to a lack of evidence.
The investigating officer kept a close eye on the suspect as he continued his investigation.
On Monday, 6 December 2021, at around 21:00, a group of people confronted the man at his home, demanding answers.
He was beaten mercilessly until he revealed the location of Thokozile's body. In the Bester area of Bramhoea, a semi-decomposed body was discovered in a shallow grave.
The police intervened, and the man was rescued from the enraged crowd. He sustained multiple wounds on his way to the hospital and died as a result of his injuries.
Those who were found to be involved in the man's murder will face charges. As a result, they will be apprehended and charged.
