Tensions around Zimbabwe's exemption permit persist even as the much-anticipated end of the 'grace period' approaches. At this time, it is unclear what will happen to Zimbabwe's ZEP program participants after the grace period ends on December 31.

The certificate allowing Zimbabweans to live and work illegally in South Africa without interruption has been extended by South African authorities for another four years.

A South African named Malindela took to Twitter to implore his countrymen to let Zimbabweans stay in the country when the 'grace period' ended.

He thinks South Africans have a problem if they cannot solve the issue of Zimbabwean exemption permits. He asked the Minister of Home Affairs to stop punishing Zimbabweans in South Africa, saying that they are like brothers and sisters to him.
