Five kids were killed and four more injured after a truck drove through the school's fence on the afternoon of 18 August 2022 and stopped in the school's parking lot.
About 10 kilometers west of Potchefstroom, along the N12, ER24 and a number of other services responded to the site.
Upon arrival, medical personnel saw the truck parked close to several little container buildings.
When the medics went to the scene, they discovered several kids around the truck and three kids lying under it. All of the kids were thought to be between the ages of 7 and 11.
Four children had displayed no indications of life, according to an immediate medical assessment of the patients. Sadly, there was nothing that could be done to save them, and they were eventually pronounced dead.
While two more children had significant injuries, three additional kids were in critical condition. The patients were treated by doctors, who also gave them enhanced life support. Unfortunately, one seriously injured child passed away from their injuries after a short period of time.
After treating them, medical personnel drove the remaining three kids to a local hospital for emergency care.
The truck's driver was unharmed.
Although the full circumstances of this tragedy remain unknown, local authorities were on the site to conduct additional investigations.
