A driver of a charcoal coloured Dutsan is robbing hitchhikers in Polokwane, police have warned.

Public transport in South Africa has become very expensive especially for taxis since the petrol price went up. To escape high fares of taxis commuters go to hitchhiking spots to get a ride to and from work.

Sadly it has been reported that a Charcoal coloured Datsun-Go-7 seater with an unknown registration is being traced by the Westernburg police for robbing hitchhikers.

Four victims have come forward, 3 men and 1 woman to report the matter at Westernburg police station. The police appeal with anyone with information to please contact the nearest police station.

Crime in the country is at an all time high in recent times. This is being made worse by the level of unemployment and lack of economic opportunities.

A tip to the hitchhikers especially women is to ensure that they never enter a vehicle alone unless they know the driver. The world is dangerous now and people should always be careful.
