EMPD STT pounces on criminals after an armed robbery
On September 21, 2021, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Specialized Task Team pounced on suspects responsible for terrorizing the residents of Tembisa.
An African male in his late 30's was attacked at about 10H00 in the morning and his belongings were forcefully taken from him on gun (airgun) point he was later taken to a hospital following the injuries he sustained during the attack.
The trio managed to escape with valuables, which included a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop, bankcards, Samsung cell phone and cash.
The EMPD STT later apprehended the suspects after the vehicle which matched the description of the vehicle used for the commission of crime was spotted within the Tembisa vicinity. The trio were found inside the vehicle in possession of the stolen items.
The trio was arrested and they are facing charges of armed robbery, possession of stolen property, and the vehicle they used for the commission of the offences which is a grey Toyota Condor was confiscated and stored at the SAPS 13,Van Rhyn Deep. The suspects are detained at the Tembisa North SAPS uninjured.
