Police went search a suspicious Business in Maitland and this is what was hidden at the premises

Members of the SAPS Economic Infrastructure Task Team have managed to secure the successful arrest of two male suspects aged 30 and 50 years in Maitland, Cape Town (Western Cape Province) on a charge of possession of unrefined platinum powder.


According to the saps news report, on Saturday, 6 August 2022 the SAPS Economic Infrastructure Task Team received intelligence information from an anonymous source about a suspicious scrap metal business in Maitland, Cape Town (Western Cape Province. They followed up on the information and went to conduct a search at the premises of the business.

The raid resulted in the discovery of unrefined platinum powder with a mass of 35 kilogram, the powder is extracted from catalytical converters. They also seized an undisclosed amount of undeclared cash at the premises, two male suspects aged 30 and 50 were placed under arrest after they could not produce a precious metal certificate.



The suspects made an appearance in court today, Monday, 8 August 2022 to face the mentioned charges.
