Police Minister ordered to pay for the shooting of a Khayelitsha teenager by the Court

The Police Minister is reported to have been ordered to pay damages to a teenager who got shot in the neck in 2017 by an off-duty police officer when he was outside a tavern .It is reported that when the incident took place in 2017 , the police officer was drunk .

As a result of the shooting incident , Sonwabile Ralarala now reportedly uses a wheel chair .Sonwabile was 15 when he the incident took place .Judge Almade Wed condemned the issuing of a Z88 pistol to Constable Mandla Mahlanza while he was not on duty .

She went on and added that this was in violation of what was supposed to have happened .The Magistrate reportedly said that the possibility of such an incident should have been foreseen .The Magistrate found many irregularities on the side of the defendant ( The Minister ) . The amount that should be paid by the Minister will be determined at yet another trial or through negotiations between the parties involved .
