Body of a woman stuffed in a bag found floating in a pond in Delft

On Monday mid-morning; 27 June 2022; a deceased woman's body was found inside a bag floating in a pond in an open field; by Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) workers and the neighbourhood watch; including a man burning copper.

The body of a woman was found in Delft on Monday morning.

The body was found in Delft; Cape Town in the Western Cape. Police are now on the manhunt for the perpetrators of a woman estimated to be in her mid 20s.

A local newspaper; revealed that the woman has still not been identified.

While the workers were cleaning the pond; they made the gruesome discovery. They found the woman inside a bag.

The spokesperson for the South African Police; Captain FC van Wyk; confirmed the incident. He said Delft police are investigating a murder case.

Van Wyk revealed that; the police members were alerted by a person who was burning copper in the open field; when he saw the bag in the water.

A preliminary investigation revealed that; the man got suspicious and opened the bag; this is when he saw the body of a person inside; then called the police.

The spokesperson for the Community Policing Forum (CPF); Pastor Charles George said; they were waiting for more information about the unidentified female from the police.

A spokesperson for the local neighbourhood watch; Susan Jantjies; said she was informed by members of their neighbourhood watch; that an unidentified woman had been found inside a bag.

The police have urged the public to come forward with any information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects; by contacting the Delft SAPS; at 021 9549011 or 082 522 2036.

This sounds like a typical gender based violence (GBV); case. It will be interesting to see how the story ends.
