The issue of the immigrants will be the most talked about for months to come. This will drag to the last month of 2022 as we know that the grace period that was given to them will lapse on 31 December.
We know that they have been fighting hard to remain in the country as they say that they have been in the country for a long time and they now deserve to be South African citizens. Simba Chitando has been the voice of the Zimbabweans but now it looks like some of them are now preparing to move back home with all their belonging. They are now preparing to leave South Africa. We know that 12 months can look like a long time but it is not. The sooner they start preparing the better.
We know that Hopewell Chinono has also been the voice of the Zimbabweans based in Zimbabwe. It has emerged that some of the Zimbabweans who are in South Africa are now asking about how they will be able to move their property to Zimbabwe as they prepare to leave South Africa.
According to Hopewell Chinono, if one has lived in Zimbabwe for more than two years, they can bring all their property duty-free. However, they will have to show proof of when they left Zimbabwe to go and stay in South Africa showing their passports.
But we do know that some of them might not even have those passports as they came onto the country illegally.
This could be a good thing that Zimbabweans will be doing for their country because they are the ones who should go and vote to change their current situation. Hiding in South Africa will not help much because the people will keep on struggling and putting their lives at risk as they try to enter South Africa.
We know that Chinono has also started a campaign of convincing people to register so that they can be eligible to site and he says that those who are not registered, he will no longer be helping them.
