Yesterday marked yet another day in which blood was shed in South Africa. What remains mystery is when this is ever going to come to an end. Several cases of violence and shooting are reported and this is made possible by the large number of illegal firearms which are in the hands of heartless criminals.
According to a report which was published by Arrive Alive, one adult male was shot dead by unknown assailants. The second victim in this shooting incident which happened in Parow along Victoria Street was left with serious injuries.
Calls were made to emergency service providers at around 11:00 in the morning as there was a report of a shootout. When paramedics in company of law enforcement agents got to the scene, an Audi was found parked in the middle of the road. An assessment of the scene was carried out and inside the vehicle was where the first victim was found. He was motionless and had some gunshot wounds on his body.
Paramedics made attempts to resuscitate the victim but all their efforts could not come to fruition. The victim was showing no signs of life and was therefore declared dead on the scene. The multiple gunshot wounds were pointed out as the cause of the victims death and it was unfortunate that nothing could be done to save his life.
Not far from the road where this vehicle was with the deceased victim was a driveway to a house where the second victim was found. He had also sustained bullet wounds on his chest and he was lying in the driveway.
Paramedics noticed that his condition was critical and they administered advanced life support interventions. When he was stabilized, he was transported to the hospital nearby using an ambulance. An investigation is being carried out by law enforcement agents as they seek to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this shooting incident.
A report which was published later on by IOL clarified that the deceased was a gang leader and the second victim was a rockie in the gang who got shot. The 36 year old leader of the Ghettos gang in Hanover Park had been a target of the underworld gangs and this time around the hitmen managed to get their man.
Cape Town is one province which often experiences gruelling gang battles and a gang war might be in the making. Drugs and illegal firearms make the province hard to govern as intoxicated thugs cause havoc.
