I am very saddened by the news of 21 people who lost their lives at Manyobeni tarven in East London. This is the youth month and it so unfortunately that many innocent teenagers lost their lives. My condolences to the family who lost their loved ones hopefully they will found justice.
I know that South African Police services has already sent a forensic team and are investigating this high profile case. However in my humble opinion I think while we waiting for the police to get to the bottom of this case. The tarven owner should be arrested and his tarven should be shut down with immediate effect. The rules states that alcohol should not be sold for the persons under the age of 18 , so what was a 13 year old doing in his tarven. The rules of the tarvens are not to allow people under the age of 18 to enter so how did they allow teenagers inside their tarven. That is why I strongly believe that his tarven should be shut down and owner should be arrested for negligence and allowing teenagers to party at his tarven.
However some of the comments didn't sit well with me as I heard some people partly blaming the parents for letting their teenage children go out partying at night , but I tend to differ I don't think that there is any parent who can allow a 13 year old to the tarvens at night. However teenagers are naughty sometimes they sneak out of the house without the permission of their parents. So we certainly cannot blame parents for their children behaviors. So I would like to emphasize that we should stop judging and making senseless comments but rather sympathize with those who lost their loved ones. That was tragedy and it can happen to anyone.
In my opinion the tarven owner should be arrested and that places should be shut down. I know that people always see things differently especially when it comes to social and political matters. Well this is your platform you can leave a comment below and share your views.
