Watch: Trucks Being Towed Away At The National Shutdown In Nelspruit

The video of a truck being towed has been shared on social media following the shutdown in Nelspruit.

The video was posted by the R40 Mpumalanga Facebook page about an hour ago. The R40 is one of the main roads leading to Nelspruit. The video is captioned: "Clearing out blockages. Things will get better." In the video, a truck which was also used to block the road is being towed away.

It is alleged that trucks were initially not part of the shutdown, however, they were forced by taxi associations. According to Mapulaneng News, the truck drivers had their truck keys forcefully taken away from them.

On their Facebook post, they wrote:

"Taxis Bring Mbombela to a Standstill:

Taxi associations has brought chaos from early this morning in Nelspruit and other Mbombela sorrounding areas.It is allegedly that they also forced truck drivers to blockage main roads and they took truck keys abondining them on the middle of the main roads leaving motorist going to work. minibuses taxis has also been used to block busy roads and streets.

Potential roads such as R40,R38 and N4 including several streets in Nelspruit CBD, Matsulo and Kanyamazane have been affected by Taxi protest.The protest is causing massive travel delays arround Mbombela".
