The Venda tribe has a saying which translates to "I will find you on election day". It's exactly what those people who want to be voted in have to deal with on the 1st of November, because elephants never forget.
All over the country, citizens have different service delivery shortages. In certain municipalities, residents will be crying that they do not have electricity, while in other municipalities or regions, they will be shouting that they do not have water.
There are many essential services that the government and local municipalities have failed to provide to the people, such as when a region lacks electricity and the departments of education and government expect their children to perform well in their academics at the end of the year.
In the region of Schweizer-Reneke in the North West, there is a savage which is flowing down the stream and the residents have to live with the terrible smell every day because the municipality has not fixed the issue.
In many instances, those who have to suffer the consequences are not part of the reasons. In my own opinion, you might find that the smell comes from miles away from the river, from a place where people with money live, and they do not have to live with the noxious smell every day.
The local elections are closing in and their residences are revealing all the bad service delivery they are receiving to remind those who need their vote that they remember.
What do you think is going to happen on the fasting day of November? Do you think those residents with poor service delivery in their regions are going to vote, and are there any reasons why they should?
