For those of you who not know RUSA (Reaction Unit South Africa) they are a security service that has done immensely amazing work dealing with crime in parts of Kwazulu Natal. They have specialized officers and vehicles as well as a helicopter and they do and have all this as a private company without Government funding. However the job they do to protect the community is incredibly dangerous and today one officer lost his life doing it. All the details are down below.
Rest in Peace Good sir :
A forty one year old on duty RUSA officer reacted to a scene today, however he didn't know it would be his last. While protecting Tuck shop owners who were frequently robbed in Zwelisha today, the officer was ambushed by armed suspects who opened fire on him. This was a vicious and unprovoked attack and from the hail of bullets they rained down on him it was clear they wanted to kill him. The officer sustained multiple shots to his body and head and sadly succumbed to them. The criminals than robbed him of his gun.
It's Sad to see something like this happen, Especially when RUSA is so we'll respected by the citizens of KZN. They are often praised for doing the job our police can't and they put their lives on the line in a daily basis to keep us safe. I have no doubt in my mind that with their special resources and training, RUSA will be able to catch the men who did this and take them into custody. Right now however we pay respect to a man who put his life before others. Thank you good sir.
