Theft robbery

One Chinese and Two Pakistanis Arrested with Stolen Copper Cables Worth R500 000.

South Africa is no doubt becoming a favourite hub for criminals to operate and this is due to the nonchalant attitude of our government towards tackling these criminals who have grown so strong and continue to expand their criminals networks.

Who would have thought that one day Chinese will join the league of nationality constituting crime in South Africa. This is the case considering the recent happening at industrial West, Johannesburg on Friday.

It was reported that three foreign nationals (One male from China and the other two from Pakistan) were arrested after suspected stolen copper cables with an estimated value of approximately R500 000 were recovered at their company premises situated in Industrial West Johannesburg on Friday. Another one count charge was added after one of the suspects attempted to bribe the police for their release.

Preliminary investigations within the premises of the company shows that the City Power Johannesburg and Eskom South Africa officials confirmed that the suspects and the company have tempered with high voltage electricity supply.

The suspects are still under police custody pending investigation into the matter.

This will definitely serve as a deterrent to criminals working hard to destabilize our public infrastructure, and we hope that the court will facilitate their arraignment.
