Eight suspects have been arrested as a result of a collaborative investigation by the Crime Intelligence, K9 Unit, and Flying Squad that resulted in the discovery of Eskom cables with an estimated street value of R2.5 million.

A case of hijacking was reported on May 29, 2022, at the Moorreesburg SAPS after a truck carrying Eskom Aluminium overhead lines was taken over in Piketberg. The suspects were located in Cape Town after a thorough investigation and monitoring, which helped to locate the storage facility in Trafford Street, Blackheath.

Six rolls of aluminum cable were taken today after the premises were searched. Eight suspects were detained for violating the Second Hand Goods Act, Infrastructure Criminal Amendment Act, and possession of stolen goods. The suspects' ages ranged from 29 to 49.
On June 29, 2022, the defendants are scheduled to appear in court in Blue Downs for the aforementioned allegations.
