Here is what Ramaphosa said about the 22 teenagers that died in East London

22 school-end-party-celebrating adolescents were murdered in a nightclub in East London, shocking a great number of South Africans. But what transpired in East London is a true tragedy, and Cyril Ramaphosa must act to stem the surge of murders in this country. Early on Sunday morning, emergency personnel were dispatched to the Enyobeni Tavern in Scenery Park, on the outskirts of East London.

Instead of accepting responsibility and being accountable for our actions, black people have a tendency to continually look for someone to blame.

Cyril Ramaphosa

My sincere condolences go out to the families of the 22 youths who were killed early this morning at a pub in Scenery Park, East London.

People disregard the negative impacts of alcohol on black communities. Alcohol has devastated black communities everywhere. Prior to 1994, taverns were known as shebeens, and alcohol consumption was significantly higher; hence, it is not unusual for alcohol to be drank in this manner. Parents and the larger community turn a blind eye to children's misbehavior. We cannot blame the government for the faults of parents.
