"Here, the ANC is run by thugs who steal." It grieves me because Nelson Mandela gave up his family to fight for our independence."Following an unexpected visit by ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa, Lisebo Molefe of Makwane in Phuthaditjhaba, Free State, said these comments on Sunday.
"Unlike [previous president Jacob] Zuma, who messed up and refused to take responsibility for his acts, Mandela went to prison for many years to offer us freedom, this RDP house, and social assistance."
"I love the ANC because of Nelson Mandela, and I will never vote for another party because it would be like a churchgoer leaving one church and hoping to find Jesus in the next," the 75-year-old grandmother told TimesLIVE.
Molefe protested to Ramaphosa about youth unemployment in the neighborhood, claiming that two of her own children were jobless.
As a result, her social grant money was feeding her grandchildren, which would not have happened if their parents were working.
Molefe was given a R10,000 Checkers shopping voucher card by the ANC as an intervention effort to alleviate her plight. Molefe also informed Ramaphosa about the shambolic Maluti-a-Phofung municipality's inadequate service performance in the Free State town.
"I am overjoyed that you, of all people, chose to pay me a visit." She remarked, "I made care to tell him everything about my pain.""What saddens me the most," I told ntate Ramaphosa, "is that our children are not working, and that my grandkids and their friends whose parents are in the same situation help themselves to all the food while I am asleep." My sugar purchase does not last a month.
