South African Police Release an Important Memo on Recovering of Stolen Vehicles. (Read Details)

Following the increase in carjacking incidents across the country, the government of South Africa has been making frantic effort to successfully curb this dastardly act committed against the good people of this country.

Almost every state in South Africa is currently experiencing Issue of vehicle hijacking and the numbers of victims are increasing on a daily basis.

Meanwhile, the South African police has also discovered that some scrupulous elements try to scam carjacking victims by posing as members of a car tracking company.

They stated that some of these criminals who claim to own a tracking company reach out to victims of carjacking while asking them to pay a certain amount of money so that they recovered car can be towed to their place.

The police warned that its agency would never demand for money from anyone after they car is recovered.

According to the statement contained in the memo:

"There has been several complaint whereby the complainant of the stolen and hijacked motor vehicles are called by people pretending to be a members of Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit; stating motor vehicle has been recovered and request money for towing so that vehicle could be brought to the owner.

At no state will the VCIU request money when vehicle is recovered."
