Raging Inferno Destroys Homes And Everything On Its Path

Inferno in Lantana area causing havoc.

Many structures lost, leaving a great number homeless.

The DFW volunteer Fire and rescue group to assist Drakenstein fire with multiple trucks and lines.

Around 19.30, the joint fire fighting forces of Drakenstein Fire, Cape Winelands Fire and DFW fire, rushed to a quickly spreading informal settlement fire at No.13a and b, Plumbago street, Paarl East, whereby a great number of dwellings were alight.

The brave fire fighter teams were able to cut the fire off, although more than 9 structures must be regarded as lost and lots of damage is considered done by the flames to nearby residential flats.

The DFW volunteer group responded and assisted Drakenstein fire with 2 DFW 4x4 fire trucks and with multiple lines.

The DFW security partner Fidelity Adt as well as municipal law enforcement and traffic services assisted greatly and as a joint team the fire was rather quickly under control, given the circumstances.

Many members of the community and local neighborhood watch assisted and the public showed great cooperation in this moment of great sorrow.

Our sympathies are with the people who lost all.

The DFW general commander wishes to say thank you to our partners and much respect to our DFW volunteers, who drop everything to go out and assist others in dire need.
