While we have not had loadshedding for a while in South Africa, there is a chance it will be coming back soon. This information comes as Eskom is shutting down one of it's biggest power stations for maintenance. Here are all the details and how you can prepare for the possibility of Loadshedding.

The Koeburg Maintenance :

After four hundred and fifty days of uninterrupted operation, Unit two of the Koeburg power station, which is a nuclear power station, has been taken offline for maintenance and refuelling. This operation will last for several months and cost approximately forty nine billion rand.

However because of this operation, experts believe that there is a possibility of Loadshedding during the winter months.

Winter in South Africa lasts from June to August, with different parts of the Country being affected in different ways by it.Due to this possibility and the way South Africans may be affected by winter, I believe that it's a good idea to start preparing for the possibility of Loadshedding as soon as you can. Hear are some tips on how to do so.

How to prepare for Loadshedding :

In the present day there are many useful took a that can be acquired to help you through periods without electricity.

You can get stoves that run in gas or paraffin, to cook quick meals, there are also heaters that run on these things to help keep your family warm.

Remember that periods Loadshedding does not have to be wasted time, you can use this as family time to bond with your partners and Children.
