Taxi drivers who hurried to the assistance of a crying lady at Johannesburg's Faraday taxi stand on Sunday were able to apprehend her accused hijacker. According to police spokeswoman Capt Xoli Mbele, the 26-year-old suspect was apprehended when officers discovered him in possession of the woman's hijacked automobile. He said that two guys kidnapped a 38-year-old lady at gunpoint on Eloff Extension Street in Johannesburg's CBD. They rushed into her vehicle and drove away.
"They dumped her off at the Faraday taxi stop, where she cried for help and cab drivers rushed to her aid." "They nabbed one person and retrieved the car," Mbele added.
He stated that the suspect will appear in court on Monday in Johannesburg. Mbele stated that Johannesburg Central station commander Brig Ivan Perumal praised the police and local cab drivers for their strong working relationship. Taxi drivers have in many cases become community heroes and for that, we applaud their beautiful work.
