In response to a threat of physical violence against his mother, members of the public in Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal Province, contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), resulting in the above arrest.
On the morning of the 10th of August 2022, around twelve o'clock, a man allegedly approached his mother, an informal trader at the Tongaat Bus Rank in KwaZulu-Natal Province, and threatened to harm her with a spear he was holding, as reported by the news agency Reaction Unit South Africa. For this reason, the man's sibling hurried to his mother's side.
At about 12:36 local time, members of the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on the scene, recovered the spear that had been used to make threats, and arrested the suspect after his brother and other members of the public had tied his hands behind his back with a rope and begun assaulting him. The spear had been brandished as a weapon of intimidation.
The accused is accused of threatening others with physical harm.
