The last year law understudy was killed last month, purportedly by her 25-year-former sweetheart with whom she shared convenience.
Alutha Phasile was therefore captured and deserted his bail application in the East London Magistrates' Court.
The ruthlessness of Mtebeni's homicide sent shockwaves through South Africa. Her body was cut up and stuffed into dark packs and a bag.
Advanced education Minister Blade Nzimande honored Mtebeni, saying it disheartened him when the existence of a promising college understudy was stopped.
"Understudies, every one of them, are extremely extraordinary to me as a clergyman in my area however NSFAS [National Student Financial Aid Scheme] understudies are especially exceptional on the grounds that regularly they are the first of their family to go to college or school."
