More suspects linked to Rossetenvile shootout arrested

Following the blood shootout in Rossetenvile between the police and a group of gangstas that commit crimes around the country, the police have been hard at work looking for more of its members.

The police have confirmed another suspect, aged 42, is expected to appear at Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on Friday the 25th of February 2022. The police arrested him on the the 23rd February 2022 in Phomolong, Tembisa.

His arrest came during a crime intelligence led multi-disciplinary operation by the National CIT Task Team that was assembled a few years ago by the police to counter act the growing Cash in transit heists. Because of the task teams work, the suspect was accosted in the street in Tembisa and a 9mm pistol found in his possession.


Once he was arrested, further investigation led to his place of residence. In arrival the police conducted a search was and the following were recovered:

Four assault rifles, five pistols including the one found in his possession, rifle and pistols magazines, more than a thousand rounds of various assorted ammunition, channel jammers, G4S and SAPS bulletproof vests and uniform.


The police have not yet confirmed through evidence, but the suspect is believed to be linked to the group of suspects who were arrested on Monday 21st February 2022 during a shootout in the Rosettenville area which ended with the fatal shooting of eight suspects, and the arrest of ten.


The suspect will be charged separately from those in Rossetenvile and faces, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition as well as possession of suspected stolen property. He will also be charged for the jamming equipment found in his house. Investigation continues and more arrests are not ruled out.
